Lignin, the molecule involved in the development of wood tissue in plants, is a natural organic compound and, according to research, could have an antibacterial effect. In collaboration with a university in Denmark, we will investigate whether lignin, mixed into a typical epoxy paint, could be used as an antifouling. If yes, we could develop a plant-based form of antifouling.
