| Onderwerp (wordt vervangen door Abstract na indienen) | In recent decades, GPS has been regarded as a highly robust and reliable positioning system. However, this perception is now changing. In addition to the influence of solar storms, there is also an increasing impact of jamming and spoofing, which can severely disrupt the signal, with a direct effect on all connected navigation equipment and operations.
This thesis focuses on the regulatory and operational aspects of GPS signal disruptions in maritime navigation. Possible research areas include: What is the legal and regulatory framework governing the use of GPS in maritime navigation? Is it permitted to sail without GPS, and under which conditions? What are the responsibilities of ship operators and crews when GPS signals become unreliable or unavailable? How can crews be trained and prepared for potential GPS signal loss? What are the regulatory and operational implications of GPS disruptions for offshore installation projects, including DP operations, survey and construction activities?
